Honda CB200X: 5 things to know

With the CB500X’prices being out of reach for most buyers, could the Hornet-based CB200X give buyers a more affordable taste of a Honda ADV? Here are five things you need to know about Big Red's latest machine:


To match its adventure tourer intentions, Honda has given the CB200X more substantial bodywork than the Hornet 2.0 that it's based on. This includes a semi-fairing that flows neatly into the 12-litre fuel tank, with a tinted windscreen above it and contrasting faux radiator shrouds below it. The CB200X also gets handguards with the front turn indicators neatly integrated into them.


The off-road intent shown by the handguards is backed up by new block-pattern tyres on the CB200X. These are MRF Zapper Kurve units measuring 110/70-17 and 140/70-17 at the front and rear respectively.


As the tyre sizes indicate, the CB200X still rolls on 17-inch wheels at both ends. All other underpinnings are also shared with the Hornet, including the upside-down fork, monoshock and disc brakes at both ends. However, the CB200X does get a wider and taller handlebar that puts you in a more commanding riding position.


Like the Hornet, lighting on the CB200X is all-LED, and instrumentation is fully-digital, in the form of a negative LCD display. It also gets single-channel ABS, which is nice if you decide to explore this bike's limited off-road capabilities, though a switchable dual-channel system would have been preferable.


The result of all these tweaks is a price tag that's Rs 15,000 more than the Hornet’s (which itself is a slightly pricey motorcycle). This means that the CB200X costs Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
